Application requirements:
  1. Ages: 8-18 years old (other ages will be reviewed case by case).

  2. Fill out the application form and health form, as required. Provide three recent color pictures (2-inch).  Parents will need to sign the agreement.
  3. According to the law, campers with age of 18 and under must have guardians. Guardians must sign the agreement to take the responsibility for the undertaking.
  4. Participants should have medical insurance (please provide a copy of the insurance card) and travel insurance during period of the summer camp (can be handled by agency).
  5. 30% of down payment is required to reserve the spot. Remaining balance can be paid on the first of the camp. If decide to withdraw from the camp before May 20, a full refund will be granted. ($30 registration fee is non-refundable.) If decide to leave the camp on May 20 or after, 20% of the fee will be deducted besides other fees, such as airfare and insurance.
  6. If campers decide to leave the camp without authorization, camp organizers are no longer obliged to the campers. All fees are non-refundable. Campers leave camp for special reasons, refund can be negotiated to a maximum of 50%.
  7. In the summer period to comply with business regulations and laws of the People's Republic. In the event of any incident involving the law, in accordance with international practice by the relevant Chinese law.

Group registration:

  1. To have applicants to sign the agreement (as necessary).
  2. To fill out registration forms and health form and other forms as required.

Individual registration:

  1. Contact the camp organizer directly to get all information needed.
  2. Fill out registration form and health form, and provide other information as required.

Fees: 1. 6-weeks $2,100.00 + flight ticket (Class A); 4 weeks $1,400.00 + flight ticket(Class B); 2 weeks $1,000.00 + flight ticket (Class C).

Notest

  1. Reserve round-trip airfare as soon as decide to come to the camp. At least one month before the camp starts.
  2. May involve a simple test for Chinese in order to arrange for proper class. (Those who paid the deposit of 30% will be guaranteed for the spot.)
  3. Deadline for Group registration will be April 30, 2009.
  4. No deadline for individual registration as long as there is a vacant.

Highlights of summer camp activities:
Learning Chinese language and culture will be the main focus of the camp. All camp teachers employed are Chinese language teaching experts (consultants for several summer camp groups). They have the experience to teach individuals with different backgrounds (for example, no Chinese background at all, able to listen, but speak very little, etc.). The teacher will apply different methodology to meet students with different levels and needs.

All kinds of activities will be arranged besides learning Chinese in a classroom setting. These will include traditional Chinese painting, calligraphy, martial arts, Chinese drum, of course eat delicious Chinese food, just to name a few. In addition, the campers will have sightseeing, for example "a day tour of Hefei" (Be at Heifei student’s home for one day) and a day trip to the most beautiful places called Shuzhou and Hangzhou, the paradise of the world.

All teachers at the summer camp are bilingual.

Curriculum
   "2009 International Youth Summer Camp” will start to host the camp from overseas on July 5, 2009.
The summer courses are: Chinese characteristics. Fast track Chinese, which include using computer, pictographic Chinese, musical, and various tools/methods to learn Chinese in a very fast and effective pace. Details can be found in the summer camp handbook.

Goals

  • through several weeks of intensive learning, students can recognize 500 or up to 1000 Chinese characters. Student with no Chinese background will learn the basic of listening and speak.  Student with Chinese background will improve their Chinese tremendously.
  • Students will be able to understand a lot traditional Chinese culture and appreciate very much.

    Curriculum
  • Chinese character input with the use of electronic dictionaries;
  • Chinese pictographic language, and other elements to master;
  • development of students’ interest in learning the Chinese language;
  • inspiration to learn Chinese;
  • karaoke-style language teaching;
  • interactive way to learn Chinese, and so on.
  • dialogue with scene class, audio-visual lessons, reading lessons, writing classes, including a variety of classes based recite Tang poetry. Recite the Chinese fable. Tongue twister, and other interactive teaching content;
  • Introduction of "Chinese Language Proficiency Test."
  • minimum of three (3) hours to learn Chinese each day besides other  activities.

Culture related activities (art, music and other programs):

  • Chinese painting and calligraphy: (optional) Hua Mei, bamboo and Chinese calligraphy;
  • Chinese folk culture and arts: (optional) Chinese knot, face painting, paper cutting, clay figurines pinch, flower arrangement, Chinese drum, Chinese songs, Chinese folk dance;
  • China National Sports: (optional) Chinese chess, Chinese Kung Fu (M), or sword dance Boxing (female)
  • Chinese food culture: (optional) making dumplings, wonton, Yangzhou fried rice ... ...
  • Shanghai day trip: be with a Shanghai student for one day
  • Tour Shanghai:
    • Pudong tourism: the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Century Plaza, Riverside Avenue, Lujiazui, River night ... ...
    • Puxi and Tourism: Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, the Bund, Shanghai Street, Temple, Chinese acrobatics to watch ... ...
    • Southern tour: the Soviet Union, or the Millennium Hang water day
  • International Volunteer: on the basis of actual needs and circumstances of the arrangement.

  • TV show for the daily activity;
  • MSN online hotline to chat with parents. (Summer camp and parents can communicate at any time);
  • Provide free online learning of Chinese (Q&A, etc.) for one year till the next summer camp.
